Spring has Sprung..and so has my wallet!

My word. I have a love-hate relationship with Spring. On one side, the weather is nicer, we can do more outdoor activities, and BASEBALL starts!! On the other hand, the weather is nicer and we can do more outdoor activities (some of our favorites include shelling out $$$) and BASEBALL starts!
Why does this bug me? Well, my oldest is in Little League, which costs around $120 up front. However this year they also tacked on $50 for raffle tickets that we have to sell. Of course my son also had a growth spurt over the winter and none of his pants or cleats still fit. I’m estimating around $75 for that. Plus he is in the majors this year, which requires practice every day! and two games a week. Figuring in that I’ll be a team mom for at least one practice and a few games a month, that is going to set me back roughly $20-$40 a month.
Whew! Now, for some that might not be a lot of money, but we are on a very tight budget in order for me to stay at home. So we basically live off my husband’s salary, and use whatever comes in my part time paycheck for the kids’ activities. Now that a good chunk of that money is going to Christian’s baseball, I’ll have to really try to find low cost activities for the two little ones, no easy task.
So, bring on Spring! I can’t wait for opening day, both MLB and Little League. However, my wallet could use a little attention.
