E-Beanstalk Toy Testing ♥ Melissa and Doug Puzzle Review
Posted by kindredspirit 49 weeks 4 days ago
When E-Beanstalk asked if I, as an expert toy-tester (i.e. mom), was interested in receiving and testing baby toys and toys for 1 year olds, I agreed wholeheartedly! Emma, my 15-month-old, is really the expert, of course. We all know that as moms we can love a toy or game ourselves, but that doesn't necessarily mean that our children will love them, too. So we got our tester gear on and waited anxiously for the package from E-Beanstalk to come in the mail.
About E-Beanstalk:
E-Beanstalk has an amazingly wide selection of toys, games, and gear for children. I think what really makes them special, though, is that they have taken the time to categorize them so that it's super easy to find exactly what you're looking for. You can search for toys by age, category, and brand, and browse through outdoor toys, doll houses, arts and crafts, wooden toys, crib toys, toddler toys, musical toys, and much more.
Our Thoughts/Review:
We were sent the First Shapes Jumbo Knob Wooden Puzzle made by Melissa and Doug. This puzzle is definitely a favorite! It's completely handcrafted and features a colorful cottage. Each puzzle piece is a part of the cottage or its surroundings - two differently shaped windows, a door, the tree, and the sun. We love that the knobs are large, it makes it very easy for toddlers to grab the pieces.
Why I love it:
- Pieces are large, colorful, and easy to learn to maneuver.
- It teaches shapes, words that correspond to the shapes, and colors! It also teaches toddlers to find shapes in their surroundings.
- Puzzles like this enhance a child's skills - I love knowing she's enjoying learning!
Cons:
The only con I can think of is that the circle/sun is a little roughly crafted. The circle puzzle piece fits in just fine but you have to turn it a certain way to get it settled into its place. This might be a bit frustrating for littlest ones who are still learning to use the puzzle. However, I'm very sure that this is a one-time product flaw - and even if they were all like this (they aren't) I still love the puzzle and think it's totally worth it. All of the other pieces fit in their places easily.
I would love to see this toy added to E-Beanstalk. Puzzles are classic - they never get old and kids love them! Emma comes back to this toy over and over. Puzzles are also easy to store and save for the next child.
I would like to say thank you to E-Beanstalk for allowing Emma and I to test for them. :-)
